Welcome

I’m Heather, I love working with a diverse range of clients from supporting women with pelvic health pre and post-natally and through the menopausal years to athletes of all levels recovering from pain and injury. I work holistically with each individual by listening to your personal history, taking into consideration both your physical and emotional wellbeing and working with you to achieve your individual goals whether that be to be able to play with your children comfortably without symptoms or return to work or return to high-level sporting activities. The treatment is tailored to you and your lifestyle.

I am a highly qualified and experienced physiotherapist who graduated from RGU with an MSc in Physiotherapy in 2013 after a career change. Starting my physio career in the NHS, I quickly found my passion for musculoskeletal outpatients and enjoyed working in the NHS and privately building up over 13 years’ experience in this speciality. Throughout my career, I have enjoyed working with amateur athletes previously supporting a local rugby team and more recently working with the Scottish Swim team supporting the commonwealth and olympic level athletes.

As I have progressed in my career and grown my own family, I have become increasingly interested in the specialism of pelvic health. As a result, I have completed extensive post-graduate training in:

Diastasis rectus abdominus (split abs)

Female urinary incontinence

Prolapse

Lower bowel dysfunction

Mummy MOT (certified practitioner)

Menopause

I have enjoyed building up experience working within this speciality and drawing on both my musculoskeletal and pelvic health expertise to support women to achieve their goals. As a busy mum of two myself, I identify with the challenges a mother can face and take a realistic approach to rehabilitation. I work closely with each individual to develop a plan that will work for their individual circumstances.

I also have a passion for teaching pilates and trained with the APPI in mat pilates instruction and have over 11 years of experience teaching classes and one-to-one sessions.

Outside of work you will find me enjoying the outdoors and nature with my family, friends and dog, cycling, running, weight training or doing pilates and yoga.

Thanks again for all your help and for giving me the knowledge and confidence to start enjoying intimacy. It feels like such a weight off my shoulders now.

I have thoroughly enjoyed Pilates and definitely feel the benefit from it in my recovery postpartum. You are a fab teacher and you have been so good with my daughter. I will continue to recommend your classes to all my pregnant friends.

Heather's postnatal pilates class has been fantastic in supporting my return to running over the past 9 months since having my baby. Heather's knowledge of postpartum recovery has allowed me to focus on strengthening my core whilst building up the miles running. The class is friendly & relaxed & I would highly recommend! Thank you Heather!

I have got a lot out of Heather’s post-natal physio pilates classes. Heather is friendly and knowledgeable; she keeps the classes varied and interesting, and corrects/provides further advice where necessary. I think of it more as a ‘mum class’ rather than just a baby class, although there are still toys to entertain the babies and Heather is happy to help out so mums can get some exercise done!

Heather is a wonderful physiotherapist and a Pilates teacher! Some time ago, I had physio treatment from Heather for a long-term painful shoulder, with some loss of function. Heather managed to put it right. After that, I also started going to Heather’s Pilates class, which I still attend, religiously, several years on (online through the Covid period). Every class is meticulously planned and very enjoyable. Heather is doing such a good job as a Pilates teacher that I haven’t had physio treatments for quite a while, and the shoulder is absolutely fine still.

I first consulted Heather in her role as a physiotherapist. I was very pleased with the treatment I received which was a combination of hands on physio, exercise schedules and general advice. I then started to attend Heather's Pilates classes and continued to do so for several years, including her very successful online classes during "lockdown". Heather is a very knowledgeable, patient and encouraging teacher with a calm approach. Her classes are enjoyable and suitable for all ages and abilities and her old Stonehaven regulars miss our weekly sessions!

Thank you so much for your support post-operatively after my prolapse repair. It has made all the difference and I still do your exercises now to keep up the strength. Thanks!

I went to Heather for a Mummy MOT and it was excellent. She did a thorough assessment and was so knowledgeable about post partum recovery. Her advice and guidance on how to get stronger again after birth has really helped with my back pain and returning to running safely after having two babies.
